As Chevrolet Sonic lead development engineer in North America, John Buttermore drives a Sonic all week long. When he takes to the race track on the weekend, he drives a Chevrolet Corvette, and he drives it very fast. Buttermore is the defending champion in the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Touring 1 Class and we went with him to the track as he began preparing for the upcoming season. Check out the video to find how John uses what he does at the race track to make the cars he works on even better.

When Buttermore won the Touring 1 Class championship in September of 2011, it was the fifth straight year he's won a medal in the class.

John Buttermore started racing on the SCCA circuit in 2004 in the Touring 2 Class, and in 2007 he moved up to the Touring 1 Class.

This is the view from inside the car as Buttermore takes his laps at Gingerman Raceway. Check out the video to see more of the driver's view on the track.

Very cool – high expectations can translate from the track to the street. Well done John!
